Approximation of the frame coefficients using finite dimensional methods

چکیده
A frame is a family {fi}i=1 of elements in a Hilbert space H with the property that every element in H can be written as a (infinite) linear combination of the frame elements. Frame theory describes how one can choose the corresponding coefficients, which are called frame coefficients. From the mathematical point of view this is gratifying, but for applications it is a problem that the calculation requires inversion of an operator on H. The projection method is introduced in order to avoid this problem. The basic idea is to consider finite subfamilies {fi}i=1 of the frame and the orthogonal projection Pn onto span{fi}i=1. For f ∈ H, Pnf has a representation as a linear combination of fi, i = 1, 2, ..n, and the corresponding coefficients can be calculated using finite dimensional methods. We find conditions implying that those coefficients converge to the correct frame coefficients as n → ∞, in which case we have avoided the inversion problem. In the same spirit we approximate the solution to a moment problem. It turns out, that the class of “well-behaving frames” are identical for the two problems we consider.

A High Order Approximation of the Two Dimensional Acoustic Wave Equation with Discontinuous Coefficients
This paper concerns with the modeling and construction of a fifth order method for two dimensional acoustic wave equation in heterogenous media. The method is based on a standard discretization of the problem on smooth regions and a nonstandard method for nonsmooth regions. The construction of the nonstandard method is based on the special treatment of the interface using suitable jump conditio...
متن کاملNumerical Simulation of 1D Linear Telegraph Equation With Variable Coefficients Using Meshless Local Radial Point Interpolation (MLRPI)
In the current work, we implement the meshless local radial point interpolation (MLRPI) method to find numerical solution of one-dimensional linear telegraph equations with variable coefficients. The MLRPI method, as a meshless technique, does not require any background integration cells and all integrations are carried out locally over small quadrature domains of regular shapes, such as lines ...
متن کاملImproved Seismic Performance of Chevron Brace Frames Using Multi-Pipe Yield Dampers
Spacious experimental and numerical investigation has been conducted by researchers to increase the ductility and energy dissipation of concentrically braced frames. One of the most widely used strategies for increasing ductility and energy dissiption, is the use of energy-absorbing systems. In this regard, the cyclic behavior of a chevron bracing frame system equipped with multi-pipe dampers (...
متن کاملDamage identification of structures using second-order approximation of Neumann series expansion
In this paper, a novel approach proposed for structural damage detection from limited number of sensors using extreme learning machine (ELM). As the number of sensors used to measure modal data is normally limited and usually are less than the number of DOFs in the finite element model, the model reduction approach should be used to match with incomplete measured mode shapes. The second-order a...
متن کاملAn Enhanced Finite Element method for Two Dimensional Linear Viscoelasticity using Complex Fourier Elements
In this paper, the finite element analysis of two-dimensional linear viscoelastic problems is performed using quadrilateral complex Fourier elements and, the results are compared with those obtained by quadrilateral classic Lagrange elements. Complex Fourier shape functions contain a shape parameter which is a constant unknown parameter adopted to enhance approximation’s accuracy. Since the iso...
